Utilizing the only Vienna Surface Testing (VST) unit in the United States, we provide Going analysis and consultation for eventing facilities. Utilizing a three-visit protocol, our goal is to assist both facility operators and event organizers in providing quality, consistent surfaces for eventing. The VST unit measures course cushioning, firmness, depth, energy return, and ground stiffness, creating an extremely accurate and reliable assessment of course conditions. It has rapidly become the “Industry Standard” means of analyzing eventing course conditions in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.
Typically, eventing courses will be analyzed one month, one week, and one day before an event to allow adequate time to “dial in” the Going on the course. The information that is collected is used to help recommend adjustments (aeration, rolling, irrigation, etc.) to individual areas/sections of a course in order to create the most uniform running surface for the event.
Boekholder & Associates also provides general agronomic consulting for eventing facilities including nutrient application plan development, cultural practices (aeration, topdressing, etc.) program development and general turfgrass quality consulting including soil and plant tissue sampling services.
